Hardware spending specifically was down 33% year-over-year to $235 million as every platform declined but the Nintendo Switch. Overall games spending in the US for June was down 13% year-over-year to $959 million according to The NPD Group, with every category (hardware, software, accessories and game cards) declining. In a trend that seems poised to continue for the foreseeable future until a new console generation hits, the Nintendo Switch continued to be both the best-selling hardware platform for June as well as for the first half of the year as PS4 and Xbox One hardware sales continue to decline.
